Character Proportions I saw no demeaning responses most of us are just silly. Personally in my case i have asked them to open things up so we can import entire characters. I have also asked them to revamp their entire camera system among other things.

There are a lot of shall we say englishmen and scotsmen around (not sure which is worse really) and they tend to have an interesting brand of humour. Having grown up with a typically english father it has rubbed off on me even though I am very very canadian. ON the other hand my very european jewish mother he could get rip roaring mad with his english humour .. it was an interesting family life LOL. Anyhow I didnt see anyone put anyone down just a bunch of englishmen, scots and australians be silly.

Basically everyone in this thread agrees with you in their own way just have to be you know silly about it. Myself included.

Character Proportions MrDrWho13 wrote:
I believe this would be easier to implement for the new characters because the older ones are made of one whole mesh, whereas the newer ones have 3 separate meshes (Top, middle, bottom).
That's just a guess, so I think this is one of those cases for muvizu where creating a new realistic character would be easier than re-engineering the older ones.

they have made 2 uvmaps on 2 material layers but its one mesh for a character(err there might be a third uvmap/material for the head). There might be a second mesh involved with clothing layers but I would be very surprised to find out a base model character is not a continuous mesh. I would think though that the clothing is just a morph of the base mesh done in something like zbrush. (except maybe where there is a skirt or something they add a bit more mesh on top kinda hard to morph legs to a skirt LOL)

If anything the older characters have more then one mesh for a base character. Ears, head, eyes, nose. The newer models obey more modern constraints and are more classic in that all the body parts are on one base mesh.

Collision still a smash? With blender being opensource maybe you can come up with something. There are actually a lot of animation companies out there that turn to blender because it is open sourced so they can get it to do exactly what they want.

The issue of making sure all the faces/normals etc are in the right direction and its all unwrapped I dont think this can be automated but the collision I am pretty sure can be as long as your looking for the tiny box at the center of mass type

In the meanwhile because several people were having issues with collision I created this video just about simple almost no collision.

TMI time

Unfortunately since muvizu is built on unreal engine this issue wont be going away I dont think and FBX is here to stay. The next big thing is 'voxels' so hold onto your hat because 3d will be changing dramatically in the next few years.

Update my copy of Play+ You loose your favourites but what a lot of people do is to create a set containing any characters you want to keep then once you re-install you open up the set and just put them back as favourites

Update my copy of Play+ Its not automatically updating?

if you are online and its not updating remove it all and then download a new locked copy from the site and put your registration number back into it and it should pull the information you need of the site.

I have noticed if i dont have the last version installed muvizu doesn't often upgrade it

Random feature requests okay I will put my two cents in here

firstly some of these requests which I agree with sound more like bug fix requests Drink
-the lighting thing considering the size of files I work with etc (not that large really) the amount of memory consumption seems well very off.
- Also it appears there is some sort of leak or something as the software is slowing over time

cameras - this is a feature request hehe
-can we have a system that does not rely on me being a 20 year old coordinated gamer with a joystick who enjoys first person shooters. I am not *that* old but I am old enough to notice I can no longer work with them so just compromise/settle for static placement and do very little movement as a result and any movement I do is very jerky and unsmooth even when I am moving it smoothly etc. So can the cameras also be "quicky and easy" like the rest of muvizu is LOL

Hey fellow creatives, what a shame about our little Gallery, eh!

I occasionally check in to see if there is any new videos, but.......... nothing??
Remember the good ol days boys and girls? Remember when Muvizu was FUN? A place where a shitload of laughs came in by the bucket load??
Do you remember the good Crack we had with HQ?? Do you remember the Ambition here?
Do you remember the Storys, the mini series, the news, the Horror... the Horror.. the Horror...
The Comedys that were unmatched on any other machinama forums? A yes, Do you remember?
I think we will be on Steve Wrights radio show next!

But what I do remember is someone asking about setting up a new Muvizu forum to post new videos and file share and stuff?
Sounds like a good idea to me now, cause this site is as flat as a whitches Tit!!

Just my thought's guys.

Peace, artpen

well.. my thoughts and i dont post my true thoughts often about such stuff because in the end they are just a bunch of hard working people trying to earn a living in a very competitive field, but

my thoughts on community for companies like this.. its their community in the end if they are not active the users wont be either.

There are other small communities out their so i am not sure how making another forum will help. Since I tend to like have a full faced method of doing this stuff and use tools other then just muvizu I kinda of surf around and read stuff.

The 3d party communities are not very active either because the driving force is usually the software that people are using.. so i dont know how much setting something else up would help..

but since *cough* I just had to move to a new domain name and am reinstalling my website yet again. (I just did a massive update recently lol) I suppose I can add a forum. I dont feel a true video sharing site is something i want to um deal with because it will be full of um stuff that I would want to remove and dont want to moderate it to keep off the pron and .. stuff :P

a forum is fine though let me know.. however I do not think its the answer the answer if for muvizu to engage its clientbase more and not just tweet things.

so that is my thoughts. However nurturing a community like this is a full time job in and of itself soo... I can understand if they dont have the manpower to do it. (that is why I dont say much often cause I know its hard work and there are only 24 hours in a day )

Modify the look of a hat? err you would have to make an asset with a texture and then edit the texture. Any native muvizu assets they dont actualy use textures so you would need to make a custom helmet and use play + to get it onto the guy and then you can edit the texture easily enough.

The only things with textures made by muvizu are the characters .

Collision in Muvizu aka What buttons to press hehe yes it defines where you want it to collide with the environment and where you dont want it to collide. When you leave it to muvizu to decide it will just put a giant box around the entire thing making things .. awkward so many of us have realized awhile back that the easiest way to build things inside muvizu is to put as little collision detection into things as possible.

Unless its something like a set of stairs or a floor that you want them to walk on better to just have muvizu not put collision there.

Collision in Muvizu aka What buttons to press okay thanks.. it will end up in the gallery eventually under tutorials but maybe some people actually use the wiki LOL.

Collision in Muvizu aka What buttons to press I didnt show how to slap a texture on and a couple other things because this might confuse the issue but this should work. On a side note the bug that existed with centering things seems to have been fixed or I just got lucky but I did import 3 versions of that car with no issue so.. its probably fixed.

There are some hints in the wiki as well I put there. One was for turning on material properties for emmissive and shiny etc. So all these "what buttons do I press" I think are covered .. mostly

anyhow hopefully it helps I put or tried to put musak in there to keep you awake

LOADING A VIDEO GALLERY OF MUVIZU THROUGH YOUTUBE yup i got it.. the OK button doesn't work with Google Chrome however

Collision in Muvizu aka What buttons to press Here is a short video created just to go over how to add a basic collision box in muvizu using Blender.

for the curious yes the model I used in the tutorial is the model I used in that short clip at the beginning. I simply made sure all the faces were facing the right direction and changed the colours on the materials (didnt use textures).

LOADING A VIDEO GALLERY OF MUVIZU THROUGH YOUTUBE Yes it only recognizes avi for some reason. I dont know why they would do that because youtube's recommended file types are not AVI and youtube accepts and converts its videos to another format. (also not AVI)

so its not fixed yet.

Unless you like converting your videos to a crap codec that no one likes :P

So can we please upload the same format we upload to youtube in.. myself I usually use a blueray format as the quality is high and the files size is low .. but youtube actually requests or suggests a basic mpeg which I tried to upload as and even that was not recognized and mpeg standard files are huge .. anyhow .. its not fixed yet..

edit: I downloaded firefox and it works there but you need to move from "video files" which the site is defaulting to as muvizu has decided that video files = avi .. then the button works ..

However if your using google chrome for the moment the ok button is not working..
