Assigna Material for an imported FBX prop. ukBerty wrote:
When you say you can't edit or move them - do you mean they won't select ?

Sorry, I just saw this. Yes I meant I couldn't select it to edit. I could do it through the scene manager dialog box though. Will investigate merging all the groups into one before exporting - hopefully it won't screw up the UVs.

New one for me - happened just as I hit the Close button on the Make Video bit.

I have had that same message. I just closed a few other things I was running in order to free up some RAM and restarted Muvizu and it worked OK. Might have been coincidence though.

I love the keyframing potential, but I wish there was a way to control the positioning more precisely.

I feel your pain it took me hours to do this:-

But as far as I can tell the physics implementation in Muvizu is worse than useless.

Assigna Material for an imported FBX prop. Just out of interest, I notice that with more complex models that I can't edit them on the set (e.g. move them etc.) Is there a maximum file size or something for imported objects?

Assigna Material for an imported FBX prop. Worked like a dream, thanks Clayster! Don't know how I missed the ASE export before. I'll finish the Blender version too just for completeness sake

Assigna Material for an imported FBX prop. Thanks Clayster, I have 1.84 and 1.85 but haven't checked the export yet. I tried the Blender approach, but it failed because the model had no collision mesh. However I see Urbanlamb has a tute on how to add this in Blender so I will give that a go as well when I get back home.

Assigna Material for an imported FBX prop. Thanks guys. I think I'll have to try the Blender route as I don't think I can export to ASE from Milkshape3d.

Assigna Material for an imported FBX prop. Nope not that either. I converted the FBX to the latest format using the Autodesk FBX converter. Maybe it has something to do with the material naming....

Assigna Material for an imported FBX prop. No luck here. Whenever I import an FBX I only get an option to change a texture colour not the texture image that I applied in Milkshape3D. I guess it must be the version of FBX that is the issue.

Assigna Material for an imported FBX prop. Thanks Wabby, I keep forgetting the Wiki exists.

"The Tree" quick video for Radio X Quite brilliant, ukBerty. Your use of the software is masterful. I will keep watching, and try to pick up a few skills

Assigna Material for an imported FBX prop. Hi,
Is there a way to import a multi-material and textured FBX model into Muvizu and have the ability to assign the correct texture (e.g. a jpg) to each material once imported? I only seem to be able to assign colours to the material when editing a prop, not an actual texture. Or is this a limitation of using FBX?

Move an attachment? Belay that last report. This morning I tried to start Muvizu and got a weird error message about there not being "enough quota available to process the command". I killed the process and restarted Muvizu and now the FBX file DOES show up in the scene window. Go figure!

Move an attachment? Thanks for the info folks, I guess I'll just add it to the list of Muvizu "gotchas".
BTW the issue with the Scene window was not about attached items - just set objects that I had added as FBX imports. I can reproduce it at will.

Move an attachment? Nope, I was selecting the "fake beard" (which is where I had attached the cigaratte). But the window refused to appear again after I closed it the first time (I wonder if that was the problem).
However I have recreated the character and attached a different prop and that is working as expected, so it must have been some other archane issue.
I still find it strange though, that if you create an object by importing it, it doesn't show up in the Scene view. Not a showstopper - unless your prop is tiny and hard to find - but not the behaviour I would expect ; since you could fill a scene with dozens of your own props and it would show nothing.

Move an attachment? Nope, nowhere to be seen I'm afraid.
It looks like you can only change an attachments position before you save the movie. Once you have done that if you reopen the movie you can't access the attachment again. Well, I can't anyway.
Also I notice that if you import an object that you created as a .FBX into the set, it doesn't appear in the Scene window. Is this a known bug?

Changing duration and other points ukBerty wrote:

It's not quite the same but I always record actions by hitting the action I want then I press idle as fast as I possibly can. This terminates the action..

Thanks Berty, I'll give that a try.

Changing duration and other points I have not used Muvizu for quite some time so decided to take another look and have made these observations.
I asked for this for years ago, but the ability to change the duration of an action on the timeline by dragging the end of the "block" would still make a huge difference to the ability to create accurate animations. It is too hard to do 20 "takes" to try and get exactly the right behaviour. Admittedly I always hated the "Direct not animate" approach so am glad to see the addition of limited keyframing abilities. Using these for the cameras is a huge improvement to the Muvizu experience, although it has been less useful for moving objects (I had hoped it would allow us to easily animate rotating wheels etc).
I think the 360 camera is clever but don't really see what use it is for a movie watcher yet. I just wish animation companies (Reallusion is just as bad) would concentrate on fixing the obvious issues that hinder movie-making rather than spending time and money on sexy new features that don't actually improve the situation.

And I see the awful physics system is still around so I hope 2016 is as "big" a year as Muvizu are suggesting; there are so many niggles which still need sorted.

Move an attachment? I tried that as well, but sadly it appears that attachments don't show in that window.
